Cue the Darth Vader Theme Music
IAN: 'Dick Cheney and his henchmen rewrote all the inspection and permitting processes. That’s what happened with BP. Their drilling plan was a joke. The Feds really stopped doing their job. One consequence of that was there were a lot of shortcuts taken in the drilling process. BP used a bargain basement blow-out preventer. They did dangerous, stupid things! They pumped all the mud out of the hole and replaced it with drilling water which is an insane thing to do if you don’t know the pressure. There was a big argument on the rig between BP and the rig operator and BP won.'"

Repubs already over 9/11
Remember the good old days when Rudy Ghoul-iani couldn't stop talking 9/11 and anyone politician caught without a flag pin on his pajamas was unpatriotic according to John Bohner and Grampy McSame? That was so 2006. Now we throw 9/11 workers under the bus! Yea, Congress!

Kadie's Journal - A walk on the beach - pics
Kadie's Journal - A walk on the beach - pics: "VENICE, LA - MAY 17: The letters BP, inscribed in sand and oil by a Greenpeace activist, are shown on a beach at the mouth of the Mississippi River on May 17, 2010 in near Venice, Louisiana. BP announced today that it is successfully siphoning off 1,000 barrels of oil per day from the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that exploded and sank to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico April 22, killing 11 crew members. The amount of oil escaping from the well is a matter of dispute, making the success of BP's effort difficult for regulators to ascertain."

If corporations are now people, Justice John Roberts, then BP CEO should be on trial for murder
The focus has been on the lost livelihoods, ruined ecosystems, dead wildlife and fish, but let's remember 11 men died in the blast. If corporations are now 'persons' according to the Supreme Court, then let's try Dick Cheney for murder for not installing pump shut offs that are required in other countries. To, you know, prevent this kind of thing.

Michigan Liberal::: Somewhere, the ghost of Rachel Carson sadly shakes her head
I learned years ago in an Environmental Illness course that according to an independent chemical analysis, Roundup contains DDT. Not on the label? You can list it as 'inert' ingredients, not because they are harmless, but to protect trade secrets. Wouldn't want that pesticide corporation down the street discovering your secret formula for killing ragweed, dandelions, puppies or humans.
It comes down to this: humans are the only animals on the planet that sh*t where they eat.

Scientific Fundies
Scientism is a type of fundamentalism where science is the religion (Milgrom, 2010). A significant problem with scientism is that its believers are often even more arrogant than religious fundamentalists. Perhaps worse, they don't even acknowledge that their belief system is a belief system. This problem may explain the lack of humility of many doctors and scientists. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dana-ullman/medical-research-lies-dam_b_555525.html
